☆ The heart of newborn survival
Community Assistants
Where there is no health centre, Community Assistants stand by mothers: they talk to families, accompany births and help mothers and babies reach care in time. Womenice connects them to APEs, midwives, nurses and godmothers.
What Community Assistants do
- Recognise danger signs early in pregnancy, birth and the newborn
- Refer and accompany mothers to the health centre in time
- Encourage antenatal visits and birth in a health facility
- At a home birth: clean birth, keep the baby warm, breastfeed in the first hour
- Keep families informed and connected
Join the Community Assistants Network
A private space to ask questions, share cases and learn with APEs, midwives and nurses. Many Community Assistants do not use a phone: an APE, a coordinator or the Womenice team can register them with their consent.
Request support
Use this form to ask the Womenice team and partners for support for a mother or baby. It is not an emergency service: if there is a danger sign, go to the nearest health centre now.
